Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, fine fragrance oils can make wonderful gifts.
They offer the recipient the chance to enjoy luxurious scents, either through direct application or use in home fragrance products.
Since they're typically highly concentrated, a small bottle can last a long time.
Choosing a scent that aligns with the recipient's preferences can add a personal touch to your gift.
Making candles with fine fragrance oils involves a few key steps.
- Start by melting your chosen wax in a double boiler until it reaches the correct temperature (typically around 85°C).
- Once the wax is melted, remove it from the heat and let it cool to about 57°C.
- Then, add your fragrance oil. A general guideline is to use about 1 ounce of fragrance oil per pound of wax, but this can vary depending on the oil and wax. Stir gently to ensure the fragrance oil is thoroughly mixed in.
- Finally, pour the scented wax into your prepared candle container with the wick in place. Allow it to cool completely, and your candle is ready to use.
Alongside fine fragrance oils and wax, you'll need several other items for candle making.
Wicks are essential; choose a size suitable for your candle's diameter.
A double boiler is needed for melting wax, and you'll also require a thermometer to monitor wax temperature accurately.
Candle containers can range from glass jars to metal tins. A wick holder or centering device helps ensure your wick stays in the middle of your container while the wax solidifies.
Heat-resistant gloves can provide safety when handling hot materials, and paper towels or cloths are useful for cleanup. Finally, a scale helps accurately measure your wax and fragrance oil.
