Turmeric Oil for Skin
Turmeric oil has been used as an arthritis cure in many cultures and can also be great for irritated skin, although it should be used sparingly to avoid the risk of staining.
Turmeric can also help lift our mood and relieve stress, helping to dispel lowered emotions.
Please note that turmeric can stain objects and the skin yellow and should always be used with caution and heavily diluted.

Can turmeric essential oil be ingested?
No, turmeric essential oil should not be ingested. Despite its potential benefits, the oil is highly concentrated and can cause adverse reactions if swallowed.
It's intended for topical or aromatic use only when properly diluted.
Ingesting essential oils can be harmful and is generally not recommended without the guidance of a healthcare professional.
All our essential oils are for external use only and should not be ingested. Learn more about the dangers of internal essential oil consumption.
Is turmeric essential oil safe for children to use?
Turmeric essential oil should be used with caution in children. It's highly concentrated and may cause skin irritation or other reactions.
Always dilute the oil with a carrier oil before applying it to a child's skin, and do a patch test to check for any allergic reactions.
The oil should never be ingested or applied near the face, especially near the eyes or mouth.
We always recommend speaking directly with your child’s doctor before using any essential oils around them.
How should turmeric essential oil be stored?
Turmeric essential oil should be stored in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat to maintain its efficacy and extend its shelf life. The oil should be kept in its original bottle, which is usually dark to protect the oil from light.
Make sure the lid is tightly sealed to prevent exposure to air, which can cause the oil to oxidise and deteriorate. Keep out of reach from children and pets.

What are the benefits of turmeric oil?
Turmeric essential oil is known for its potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, thanks to its main component, curcumin. When used topically, it may help alleviate skin conditions, reduce inflammation, and promote skin health, making it a popular ingredient in skincare products.

How to avoid staining when using turmeric oil
Turmeric's vibrant yellow colour can stain, but there are ways to minimise this:
- Dilute it: Whether it's in powder form or as an oil, always dilute turmeric with a carrier oil or in a recipe.
- Wear dark or old clothes: When applying it topically, and use dark towels or washcloths.
- Rinse thoroughly: After using a turmeric face mask or scrub, ensure you rinse your skin thoroughly to remove all residue.
- Be careful on porous surfaces: Clean up any spills promptly and avoid using turmeric near fabrics or surfaces that can absorb its colour.
Remember, turmeric can still leave a temporary yellow tint on skin, which usually fades over time.
